Asphalt Paving

New asphalt driveways, full-depth replacements, and resurfacing on sound bases — built with structural prep and grading for Pennsylvania freeze-thaw cycles.

Problems we solve

Most driveway failures show up the same way — recurring soft spots, water that never drains, and cracks that come back every spring. These are the symptoms Larry looks for on every estimate walk.

  • Alligator cracking or soft spots that return every spring
  • Standing water or ice in the same low areas
  • Garage apron or street tie-in breaking apart
  • Driveway flexes under vehicle weight

When this service is not the answer

Resurfacing only makes sense when the base is sound. If water sits on the drive, potholes return in the same place, or the structure flexes under load, replacement or base reconstruction is the honest answer — not another overlay.

What the work includes

  1. Owner-led site walk and written proposal
  2. Excavation and unstable material removal where needed
  3. Structural aggregate base and laser grading for runoff
  4. Hot-mix asphalt placed and compacted at proper temperature
  5. Edge work, cleanup, and cure-time guidance

Asphalt paving is not just rolling blacktop. We excavate where the base failed, rebuild aggregate layers with proper pitch, and compact hot mix while it is still workable. You receive a written scope before trucks are scheduled so you know exactly what is included — and what is not.

How we approach Asphalt Paving

Larry walks every paving job before quoting — checking grade, base soundness, and water paths. The proposal spells out excavation depth, stone thickness, and whether resurfacing is even on the table.

What you can expect on site

  • Laser grading and structural stone before any hot mix goes down
  • Written scope with line items — not a lump-sum phone quote
  • Resurfacing only when inspection proves the base is sound
  • Apron tie-ins, edges, and cleanup included in the scope

Good fit for

  • Driveways with failed base or recurring soft spots
  • Full-depth replacements after utility or drainage work
  • Sound surfaces ready for a new wear course

Usually not the right call

  • Cosmetic sealcoat over crumbling pavement
  • Overlay on a flexing or waterlogged base

Timing in Pennsylvania

Hot-mix paving runs spring through fall when ground and ambient temperatures support proper compaction.
